Tebow-ing ,Praying , #Winning … any difference?

This is nutz , but in  good way … this guy  … this All-American, clean cut ,manner-able , polite , jovial , competitive , humble kid has got the whole nation talking. I’ve always been on the Tebow Train … you can’t be a real football fan and not wish he were on your squad… and if you don’t like him then probably many people don’t like you either… this kid is probably converting Atheists right now. You ask any red-blooded American man right now …”if your daughter came home with Tim Tebow and he asked you for her hand in marriage ….” before you could finish he’d say HELL YES !!! … and if he doesn’t … he’s a moron.

It’s an amazing thing to watch , y’all know I’m a big sports fan and to watch all the pundits come on every week and say “he can’t do this and he won’t do that and blah blah blah ..” then he does it. All he does is win… and he does it as a devout Christian. Wow … and he ain’t doin it alone …. and he’ll tell you that , so he’s a good teammate too huh ?

See in Tennessee where I’m from and live you have to hate Florida… it’s the law. When he played for Florida it was almost all I could do to hang out with people watching a game who just hated the kid , cause of the whole Florida thing… but then I hear people hating cause he loves God, loves Jesus … saying it was all a public image show… then he gets drafted by a team who for he most part didn’t want him but the city of Denver did. They fire the coach who drafted him and the new coach and GM don’t really want him and THEY SAY IT PUBLICLY … he says nothing.  Just keeps winning.

Then the throw him in a game to sut he public up and here we are … eight weeks later and he’s 7-1 as a starter.Any of this sound familiar ? Any of this sound like somebody he all know ? How this kid has patterned his life after a certain example ? Now I’m sure he’s not perfect… but then I’m even cautious about saying that … he seems to do the right things  say the right stuff … and yet slowly you start to see some people change their minds , not only about him … but about themselves. That’s #winning …

I told my buddy Mike Goodwin it’s almost like Jesus and Barrabas … the world wanted Barrabas … and killed Jesus. Am I comparing Tim Tebow to Jesus ? Can you compare anyone to Jesus ? No … but we’re all supposed to try to be Christ-like and when somebody really tries , even when it ain’t popular … people try to shoot him down. He ain’t Jesus , and he knows it… but how many are. There are ministers who ain’t clean as this kid. Some people would rather follow them… sad…

This guy  praying openly  praising God for whatever comes his way good or bad. Being a nice superstar. Not out shooting, drugging , drinking too much , beating up on his girlfriend … who is this hot  … yeah , he’s doing something right.

Crazy … here’s a kid , seemingly does the right thing , says the right things and lives in a way that everybody is told is right and if people can’t dislike him for one thing … they dislike him for something else. He can’t win for … winning, cause that’s all he does.

This world is definitely goin crazy when with all the stuff that people do that’s soooooo stupid , everyday… and some would rather glorify all the people who can be the most despicable , ignorant , foolish clowns they can find… but he goes on his way , humbly ,being different , being true to himself , to God.

Big ups to you Tim Tebow … Charlie Sheen #winning  ? Really ? this kid is #winning … the right way in a wrong world …. I’m Jus’ Sayin’…..

Rough Week Last Week… then it got worse …

Lost some great people this past week  … what? Andy Rooney Joe Frazier, Bill Keane (the Family Circus cartoon dude) then  Heavy D … wow 44 years old , one of the most underrated , under appreciated rappers of all time, didn’t sell out to foul language, gansta rap degrading women , a true hip hop Icon…. great people , gone .

Then on top of all that….  this Penn Sate  ….. shame. That’s the only word I can come up with … Shame. The only thing these events have in common is that they all pretty much happened the same week… some great people passed away…. then something really ugly.

This …. I dunno what you call a person like this Jerry Sandusky if  you can even call him a person … or even human. Then these clowns  … who wouldn’t even say anything or take any action … to protect a football program. Kids… sacrificed for some kinda reputation, some kinda legacy … of a football program.

Grown ups .. turned a blind eye to some horrific, inhumane actions by one guy , in order to keep up appearances. Some people would say that they are just as guilty as the monster who attacked these children. Covered it all up for years, delayed it, swept it under the rug whatever you wanna call it. Amazing.

Child Sexual Abuse has touched and touches so many … including ….me.

My children are grown now and when all this piled up on me as I’m sure it did you too it brought back some painful memories … I texted each of em … told em I’d kill or die for each one of em… even now, even though they’re fully capable of taking care of themselves and their children… I had to tell em.

I try to be funny here in many ways but I’ve always comics have a unique way of telling truth. I encourage every young comic who asks for my advice to tell as much truth as possible when you’re on stage. My buddy Tim Murray told me one time “if you can’t tell a joke, tell the truth’… and I’ve tried to do that over the better part of 15 years… but some things just ain’t funny. This is one of em…

People have a responsibility who have a microphone, just as ministers, politicians , even singers… you can SAY SOMETHING… so simple … that’s all some people could have done at Penn State… and if you didn’t think anyone heard you say it louder.

My friend Crystal sent me something on a bumper sticker that said “Speak Your Mind … Even If Your Voice Shakes” … these men did not… and some innocent kids suffered, and probably will for the rest of their lives… cause a job , a football program, a reputation was more important… how’s your reputation now fellas ?

They deserve every bad thing said about them right now, and hopefully even more. I’m neither judge nor jury so their penalty will be up to others … I  dunno what I’d give em … but if any of the victims were my kid .. I know exactly what I’d give em … no doubt, no question. Even Joe Paterno who I had a ton of respect for until now … no he didn’t commit the act(s) and I won’t even say as some have this week that he is “just as guilty” but definitely culpable. At 84 years old he learned that as big as you are, don’t believe the hype .. especially about yourself. You should have done more …. and done it quicker… like right then… 10-12 years ago …

Hug your kids today …and listen to em, protect em’…. no matter how old they are… tell em you love em … show em you love em …cause as we all found out these last few days .. everybody won’t , everybody don’t … I’m Jus’ Sayin’ ….
